Blu Street Art

All we know of the background of Blu the street artist is that he has been active since around 1999 and that he lives somewhere in the city of Bologna  in the Emilia-Romagna Region, Italy.  He is Italian born and originally from the town of Senigallia which is a small port town on the Adriatic coast in the Marche region.  His work is instantly recognisable and unique, while often having a politically charged theme that comments on the world around us in broad strokes.

Blu started to get noticed in 1999 when he started creating graffiti art in and around Bologna.  It wasn’t until 2001 that his signature style began to appear as his craft now included the use of paint on telescopic rollers.  Now his very recognisable large human figures began to appear around Bologna as well as joint efforts with other artists such as Ericailcane, most of which were completed during night raids.

Blu has also experimented with video and has produced some amazing short films that bring his brand of urban art to life.
